It's Holland!

Yeah..It's Holland, indeed. And..it's quite amazing that finally I am in Holland to study with the scholarship from StuNed Neso Indonesia. Therefore, I will be in this 'Kumpeni' country for about 12 weeks in which I take short course of "Good Governance and The Broadcast Journalism 2010 in Hilversum, Netherlands".


It took around 14 hours to get to the Netherlands from Jakarta. Since, it was an Malaysian Air, then the plane should transit in Kuala Lumpur for about 2 hours before continue the flight to the Amsterdam.


And..It was 07.15 according to Holland time when I first stepped my foot in The Schiphol Airport of Amsterdam. By that time, it's quite to early to have a morning activities for The Amsterdamers. That's what I can remenber from the wisdom word of StuNed staff before I leaved Indonesia on the night of January 28 . However, It was not a problem, indeed, for Dennie to pick me up at the Airport and to take me to the place where me and my 31 friends of the course will stay.



Dennie, the 23 years guy who dressed formally with white shirt and red tie, took me with his Mercedes Van to the three stars of Bastion Hotel. It was located in Bussum Zuid area. Therefore, it took only less than 30 minutes to be in that suburb area. However, Bussum Zuid is only the place of living. Our place of course is in Hilversum Noord.

It's called RNTC (Radio Netherlands Training Centre)! At this place, I will have some international point of view of journalism through the upcoming 3 months.







Since the course will be started on February 1st, thus I went to Amsterdam to take a look around. Therefore, Red Light District which is the most iconic prostitution place in Holland where I visited first. I was not alone there. Ricky was accompanied me to 'hunt' some beautiful scenery in that 'aquarium'. For your information Ricky and I was a colleague in Faculty of Social and Politics Sciences at University of Indonesia in 1998.

We were both very happy at the time. It's like a dream that an old friend could met again in other country, developed on such Holland indeed. We laughed so loud. Even we sing our favorite song from Sting: "woooo..I'm an allien..I'm a legal allien, I'am an Inlander in Holland". Though it's different with the original song, we were proudly sing the parody style in our own. Gosh...it's still beyond our imagination that such thing could be happened!!!


Many places I've been visited in Amsterdam. From the public park, supermarket, and also the bus and train station. However, I still want to visit ARENA STADIUM someday. As a big fan of soccer it's a obligation for me to visit the icon of the football of the Dutch people.
